I have “lived life in the trenches”. Literally, because I had to learn how to dig one in Army basic training. Before that, it was learning how to be “street smart” in the projects of western Massachusetts. So that means I have an accent different from Boston. Who can understand those people anyway? And that brings me to this point – creating understanding, playfully. I love to play in life and dance with all our “people-y-ness”. My path had me appreciate life through the eyes of a hard-working single mother, which led to a greater prosperity of leaving the projects and understanding our humanity inside the world of books and community. Wanting to attend university, I took a path to the Army to generate funding. The Army took me to Germany, and I got to discover amazing cultures and personally experience the complexity of being human in multiple human systems. Life and University had me discover philosophy and business and software. I took all that to begin a career in business and then later, software startups and stumbled on leadership and agility. And I mean “stumbled”. At the turn of the millennium (that is fun to write), I co-created and led a software startup and was asked to lead another for a bit and learned what “agility” meant, again, “in the trenches”. I value pragmatism, stoic philosophy and the delightful mystery of being human. During my startup years, I began studying my own leadership and later chose to pivot to consulting on business operations, organization design, agility and leadership. My path, while consulting in the realm of business agility and leadership, then led to training with Organization Relationship Systems Coaching and certifications with Co-Active Coaching and the Leadership Circle Profile. So, since 1990 I have lived, worked, breathed and coached in the “trenches of life” and love the journey. Credentials wise: I have earned: CSM, SPC, ICP-ALP, ICP-TAL, ICAgile Authorized Instructor in Leadership, Co-Active Leadership, Leadership Circle, and Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (ACC / PCC) which all adds up to this … I have experienced agility and then got certified, I have experienced leadership and then got certified, I experienced coaching and being coached, and then got certified. These days I coach, mentor and guide enterprise coaches, leaders and leadership teams on their journey of leadership and systems awareness. And I love it.
